The two friends must help the whale find his way. Skid remembers this kindness when Luseal gets herself trapped in a fisherman's drag net in Dark Bay and, despite his fears, he joins in to help with her risky rescue. In another episode, Olly and his best friend Beth are responsible for getting a young whale lost from his pod. I would say that the show is geared more for the 7 and under crowd. Skid Stuff Rate Skid has a hard time keeping up with his friends, until Luseal takes him under her wing and helps him out. So I’d have to say my son learned a lot from watching the DVD, even though he might be a bit old for the show too. He also said the thought it was interesting how the giant squid from the “Hide and Seaweed” episode was thought of as a sea monster because people were afraid of him and how they blamed sunken ships on him (the giant squid) even though he had nothing to do with it. He said he learned that there are sunken ships made of metal on the ocean floor, and that is not good so it needs to be cleaned up. Dive Olly Dive follows the adventures of two young submarines in training 'Olly and Beth' under the guidance of Diver Doug at the Special Underwater Research Facility (S.U.R.F. I asked him if he learned anything about the ocean from watching the DVD. While on assignment in the Kelp Forest, Olly confront a 'sea monster' - the giant octopus of Kraken fame. Olly helps Diver Doug care for the ocean floor for the creatures and watercraft that call it home. He said his favorite character is Olly because he likes how Olly helps to clean up the ocean floor and how he gets to go exploring. He said it was how he felt like he was under the sea, or looking at a fish tank, because the bubbles and the fish seemed so real. Since he’s closer to the age Dive Olly Diveis intended for I asked him what he liked most about it. My nine year old son said that he liked it. First, Olly makes a whale of a mistake when he ignores a friends warning and breaks some fragile coral.
